• Release the joystick, toggle or control button. Holding the control continuously will not usually clear a fault and could make it harder to identify what has happened.

• Check whether anything is pressing against the stairlift, footrest or carriage. A coat, bag, pet or object on the stairs can activate a safety sensor and stop movement.
• Check that the swivel seat has returned fully to its travelling position, and that the armrests are lowered if your model requires this before it will move.
