A spiral stairlift usually takes several weeks from the initial consultation to installation. Unlike a standard straight stairlift, it normally requires a detailed survey, bespoke design and a rail manufactured to follow the exact curve, gradient and dimensions of the staircase. The confirmed timescale will depend on the complexity of the staircase, the equipment selected and manufacturing availability.

The process normally includes the following stages:

• Initial consultation: We discuss your mobility requirements, the layout of your home and how you use the staircase. This helps establish whether a spiral stairlift is suitable and what type of configuration may be required.
• Home survey: A trained surveyor takes detailed measurements of the stairs, landings, entrances and available clearance. They also assess fixing points, the staircase structure, power requirements and any possible obstruction to doors, walkways or other household equipment.

Availability can also differ between a new bespoke system and a suitable reconditioned option. A reconditioned stairlift is not automatically suitable for a spiral staircase, as the rail still needs to match the particular staircase and the equipment must be checked for compatibility.
