How long does the installation of a curved stairlift take?

A curved stairlift is commonly installed during a single fitting visit, but the time required depends on the design and condition of your staircase. A relatively straightforward curved installation may be completed in part of a day, while a more complex staircase, a longer rail or additional preparation can make the appointment longer. Your confirmed fitting time will be based on the survey of your home and the stairlift specification.

Unlike a straight stairlift, a curved model has a rail made to follow the exact route of your staircase. The rail may need to accommodate bends, intermediate landings, changes in gradient, narrow sections or more than one flight. This bespoke work is planned before installation, so the fitting visit is primarily concerned with installing the rail, connecting the stairlift and checking that everything operates safely.

The installation process usually includes:

• Protecting the surrounding flooring, walls and furniture where necessary.
• Positioning and securing the custom rail to the stair treads, rather than relying on the wall.
