• Parking and transfers: The chair should park where it does not block a doorway, landing or passage. On a curved staircase, the parking position may be especially important because it can affect both transfer safety and household access.
• Rental timescale: A standard straight model may be available more quickly than a specially configured curved model, but this depends on current stock and the installation requirements. Explain whether the need is temporary, linked to recovery, or likely to continue for an uncertain period.

What to prepare before the assessment

You do not normally need to alter the staircase before an assessment. Keep the stairs and landings as clear as reasonably possible, and identify any access problems that occur in daily use.
