These factors should be discussed during the assessment rather than introduced as an unexplained deduction afterwards.

Costs and arrangements to clarify include:

• Collection: Ask whether transport and collection are included in the proposed offer or dealt with separately.
• Dismantling and removal: Confirm whether removing the stairlift from the staircase is included, particularly if the installation is curved, outdoor or otherwise bespoke.
• Access requirements: Tell the assessor about restricted parking, multiple flights of stairs, narrow entrances or other access issues that could affect the collection.
• Damage or making good: Standard stairlift removal normally leaves the staircase and surrounding area usable, but you should confirm what is and is not included if fixing points, wiring or charging equipment need attention.
• Payment deductions: Check whether any agreed removal or handling charge will be deducted from the offer or invoiced separately.
