1. The outdoor stairway is assessed

• Landings, gates, doorways and turning areas at the top and bottom are considered.

6. The engineer demonstrates the stairlift

At handover, the engineer explains how to:

• use the remote controls, where provided;
• keep the rail, charging contacts and surrounding area clear;
• protect the lift with its outdoor cover when it is not being used; and
• respond if the stairlift stops or displays a fault.
