What guarantees do you offer with reconditioned stairlift installations?

Reconditioned stairlift installations include a written guarantee covering the agreed equipment and installation, with the duration, parts and labour included, and any exclusions set out in your quotation. We also provide aftercare support, so you can contact Independent Stairlifts if a covered fault develops or you need help using the lift.

Reconditioned stairlift installations are supplied with a written guarantee covering the agreed stairlift equipment and installation. The quotation or order documentation confirms the guarantee period, what is included for parts and labour, and any exclusions that apply to the particular lift. Because reconditioned equipment varies by model, age and condition, the precise cover is confirmed for each installation rather than assumed to be identical in every case.

Equipment covered: The guarantee normally relates to the stairlift described in your quotation, including its principal mechanical, electrical and control components. This may include the seat, carriage, rail, controls, charging equipment and safety features, subject to the terms provided with the installation. If replacement parts are needed for a covered fault, the appropriate repair or replacement will be assessed against the guarantee conditions.

Installation cover: The fitting itself is covered where a problem results from the installation work. This can include correcting an installation-related fault or making an adjustment needed for the stairlift to operate as intended. It does not normally cover changes to the staircase, building or electrical supply that were not part of the agreed installation.

Parts and labour: Your written documents specify whether both parts and engineer labour are included. They also explain whether any items have limited cover or are treated as consumable components. Batteries, for example, have a finite service life and can be affected by charging habits, prolonged non-use or the condition of the electrical supply. Their treatment under the guarantee should therefore be checked in your paperwork rather than assumed.

Guarantee exclusions can include damage caused by misuse, accidental impact, unauthorised alteration, failure to follow the operating instructions, unsuitable environmental conditions or work carried out by someone other than an approved engineer. Normal wear and tear may also be excluded, particularly where a component has reached the end of its expected service life. These exclusions do not remove any rights you have under applicable consumer law, including your right to expect the installation service to be carried out with reasonable care and skill.

If the stairlift develops a fault, contact Independent Stairlifts promptly and provide the customer or installation details requested by our team. Explain what the lift is doing, when the issue began and whether any warning tone or display message is present. Do not attempt to dismantle the lift or bypass a safety feature. We can then establish whether the issue appears to fall within the guarantee, provide safe operating advice and arrange the appropriate engineer support where required.

The guarantee is separate from ongoing servicing and maintenance. A guarantee deals with faults covered by the agreed terms; routine servicing helps identify wear, maintain safety and keep the stairlift operating reliably but may be charged separately unless included in your service arrangement. Keeping the user instructions, quotation and guarantee documents together will make it easier to confirm the applicable cover.

Before installation, we explain the guarantee terms and any important exclusions as part of the quotation and fitting process. If you are unsure whether a particular fault, battery issue or accessory is covered, contact us before arranging third-party work. We can check the installation record and confirm the available support based on the specific reconditioned stairlift fitted in your home.

The guarantee for a reconditioned stairlift covers the equipment and installation according to the written terms provided with your quotation. As reconditioned lifts differ in model, age and condition, the guarantee period, parts and labour included, and any exclusions should be checked for the specific stairlift installed in your home.

Keep your quotation, guarantee documents and user instructions together. If a covered fault develops, contact Independent Stairlifts before arranging third-party repairs or attempting to dismantle the lift, so we can confirm the applicable cover and arrange appropriate support.
